Nick judges scarecrow competition at Pulborough Harvest Fair
Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert was guest judge for a scarecrow competition at this year’s Pulborough Harvest Fair (28 September).
The display of around 50 scarecrows, made by children at St Mary’s C of E Primary School, Pulborough, greeted visitors along the footpaths of the Fair. Mr Herbert chose ‘Trixie the Tremendous’, made by Robyn and Sophie Dewdney, as the best scarecrow. Second prize was awarded to Rex Winters and Rosie Martin for ‘Dumbo’, an elephant scarecrow, and third prize was given to Ella and Lucy Copus for their creation ‘Goldie’.
The annual fair on Glebe Fields brought visitors together for local crafts, foods, and activities with a countryside Harvest theme. Profits from the event will support local community groups, with past recipients including the Community Care Transport scheme, the youth club, and The Hub.
Mr Herbert said: “I enjoyed my visit to this year’s Fair which was another great success for the village. It was fun to judge the scarecrow competition again and I was impressed by the entries.”
