MP visits award winning supermarket in Hassocks

Arundel and South Downs MP Nick Herbert was in Hassocks on Friday (19 April) to congratulate the Knight's Budgens team.

The supermarket on Orion Parade in Hassocks has collected new awards to add to its growing list of accolades.  They have once again been awarded the title of Best Large Convenience Store, and have also been crowned Community Retailer of the Year 2013.  The awards were announced at this year's Convenience Retail Awards.

The national competition, organised by trade magazines The Grocer and Convenience Store, recognised Knight's Budgens as being the best in the country for customer service, products, community engagement and business achievement.

The store's management and team have worked hard to create a vibrant community shop which not only sells a wide variety of products, but also engages with the local area through competitions and events.   The produce they sell provides a balance of premium, value and locally sourced products to ensure that their customers have a choice.

These recent awards are added to further ones collected by their store manager Nick Davey who won Store Manager of the Year 2012 at the Retail Industry Awards in the Independent Category.   Sales assistant Angus Pidgley also won the Independent Category and was a finalist in the Convenience Store Sales Assistant of the Year Awards 2012.

Nick Herbert said: "I've always been impressed with Knight's Budgens and I know how much local people like the store.  I think it's great that they sell so much local produce.  Congratulations to David and his team.  They are deserving award winners."
