MP visits award winning local pub in Findon

Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert visited the Gun Inn pub in Findon last Friday (20 July) following the announcement that they have been chosen as Marston's Destination Food Pub of the Year.

The Gun Inn, located in the high street in Findon, received the award earlier this summer after competing for the title against over two thousand other pubs throughout Britain.

The judging of the competition began in October, with regional finals held in March and the final decision on the overall winner falling to Stephen Oliver, Marston's Managing Director and Phil Barnett, Marston's Operations Director.

The pub itself has a long history, having been part of the community in Findon over five hundred years.

Lewis Harris, who runs the Gun Inn with his wife Sally, said "We were delighted to win the regional award from Marston's and to be chosen as the national Destination Food Pub of the Year was fantastic.

"We really appreciated Mr Herbert visiting to congratulate us on our award and were delighted to have the opportunity to show him our pub".

Following his visit, Mr Herbert commented "I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Gun Inn and was impressed with how the pub mixed the traditional with the modern.

"We are lucky to have some very great pubs, serving some excellent food in West Sussex and I was delighted to hear that the Gun Inn had been recognised by Marston's with this award."
