MP welcomes publication of A27 feasibility study

Commenting on today's publication by the Government of the A27 corridor feasibility study, which led to the announcement in last year's Autumn Statement of upgrades to the A27 including the Arundel bypass, Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert said:

"I welcome publication of the feasibility study so that people can see the reasoning which led to the announcement of an Arundel bypass and the different options.

"It is important that everyone has the opportunity of a say in the consultation over routes for the bypass.  However, I continue to believe, as the Government also concluded, that the original 'pink-blue' route of an offline bypass south of Arundel is by far the best option, and I do not support the alternatives.

"The bypass will be good for Arundel, motorists, the local economy and the environment."
