West Sussex should not be treated differently in hospital reconfigurations

Commenting on reports from the Surrey Primary Care Trust Board meeting on Tuesday 28 August that both of the A&E departments under consideration for downgrading or closure in Surrey as part of the “Creating an NHS Fit for the Future” programme are likely to be retained, Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert said:

If Surrey is now going to be allowed to retain its A&E facilities and East Sussex was always going to be able to keep both of its district general hospitals, why should West Sussex be treated any differently?

"The PCT is increasingly isolated - it must now reconsider its flawed proposals."
