MP presents schools with new equipment from Tesco
Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert presented local schoolchildren with the rewards they have earned in this year's Tesco for Schools & Clubs scheme on Friday (9 October).
The presentation took place at Tesco's in Pulborough, the store at which the schools and community collected their vouchers over the past year.
The schools receiving their rewards were St Mary's C of E primary school in Pulborough, St James C of E primary school in Coldwaltham and Fittleworth C of E village school.
The children representing their schools were invited to collect their rewards at a special presentation with their MP and the Store Manager. The schools have chosen the equipment they wanted from a wide choice and will further support the children's education.
Playground games, PE items, and cookery class equipment were amongst some of the things that the schools have selected this year.
Each child at the presentation was also given a chocolate gift courtesy of the Tesco store.
The reward scheme run by Tesco is now in its 21st year, and has already provided over £185 million worth of equipment across the country. Last year, 109 schools and clubs in the Arundel and South Downs constituency collected almost a million vouchers which went towards new learning and outdoor equipment.
Mark Cheeseman, Store Manager at Pulborough Metro Tesco said, "Tesco for Schools & Clubs is one of the many community schemes which we sponsor. The schools vouchers scheme is always popular and thousands of customers have been collecting vouchers. The provision of new school equipment is one of the things that the whole community can support. We would like to thank Nick Herbert for his time today to make the presentation to the schools and to celebrate the success of this scheme in our area."
Nick Hebert commented: "It was a pleasure, as always, to join the school children and their teachers as they received their new equipment. Thank you to Tesco and to the many people who have been collecting vouchers for their local schools."
