MP discusses Big Society with Community Partnerships

Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert met with the members of some of West Sussex's Community Partnerships on Friday (25 March) to discuss the Big Society and Localism.

Paul Mackie, Chairman of the Storrington & Sullington Community Partnership, invited Mr Herbert to a meeting at the White Horse Hotel in Storrington.  They were joined by members of other local community partnerships,  including Stephen Chapman of the Southwater Action Team, Leo Jago and Tony Jackson from the Henfield Community Partnership, and Nigel Fitzsimmons from Horsham District Council.

The conversation covered a number of areas where support and communications could be improved, and with the MP's backing they are now looking at future events that bring together other community partnerships and key groups.

Nick Herbert commented: "I was delighted to meet with the members of some of our community partnerships and action teams as they are an excellent example of the Big Society in action.

"They have come together to provide services and support for their local communities, and are keen to expand on this.  I am very happy to work with them and help them engage in dialogue with other rural groups to support their work."
