MP visits local classic car workshop
1 October 2012
Arundel & South Downs MP Nick Herbert visited Imperial Vehicle Conditioning (IVC) near Eartham last week (28 September) to catch a glimpse of some rare classic cars.
IVC, which has been based at Eartham Plant Industrial Estate for the past seven years, has established itself with a car valeting and bodywork service.
Now, the company has added another string to its bow by branching into the restoration of classic cars, with the first of their projects nearing completion.
Over the past four months, IVC have been busy restoring a 1959 Fiat Autobianchi Giardiniera to its former glory, a vehicle which usual attracts significant interest from collectors on the rare occasions when one comes up for grabs in auction houses.
Following the success of the current project, IVC have now taken delivery of four BMW Isetta's known affectionately as ‘Bubble Cars', for full restoration. There are believed to be less than a dozen of these vehicles still in existence in the UK.
Owner of IVC, Paul Mason, commented: "All of IVC were thrilled that the local MP Nick Herbert found the time to visit our operation and find out about what we do and learn about our new projects.
"Nick took a real interest in the restoration side of the business and proved to be very knowledgeable about classic cars.
"We were all delighted that Nick visited us, and would always be happy to welcome him back in the future".
Following the visit, Nick Herbert commented: "As a car enthusiast I particularly enjoyed visiting IVC and seeing their workshop.
"It was interesting to see some very rare cars in varying conditions, from those that had just arrived, to those that were nearing restoration.
"The Fiat Autobianchi Giardiniera is a real classic and I look forward to seeing it when it is fully restored".
