Supporting our local hospitals
Nick is fighting hard against plans to downgrade West Sussex hospitals. The local healthcare economy has already seen more than 1,000 job losses, over 100 bed closures and cuts in services. Now the West Sussex Primary Care Trust has published its long awaited consultation document on the NHS in West Sussex - "Fit for the Future" - proposing to downgrade two of our three local hospitals so that only one of them will retain full A&E and maternity services.
The plans were first revealed over a year ago and have sparked outrage in the local community. More than 25,000 people have marched and more than 300,000 people - 1 in 3 of the West Sussex population - have signed petitions in support of their hospitals.
As the Arundel & South Downs constituency is served by all three local acute hospitals - St Richards in Chichester, Worthing & Southlands and the Princess Royal at Haywards Heath - Nick is supporting and helping to co-ordinate all three local hospitals campaigns.
If you have not yet signed a petition in support of your local hospital, or would like to find out more, please visit the campaign websites.
